The Four Kingdoms
הסיור הציבורי הבא (37 ₪ )
Four Empires, or Kingdoms, dominated over the Temples in Jerusalem until their destruction: Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome.
Each of these Kingdoms had a unique character and contribution to the Jewish narrative. The Book of Daniel (chapter 2) introduces these kingdoms through a dream by the ruler of the world at the time, Nebuchadnezzar II. This dream, which is later elaborated in Daniel’s own visions, describes these kingdoms through the metaphors of metals and animals.
This tour examines the Four Kingdoms through a philosophical lens, relating to Nebuchadnezzar’s dream as interpreted by Daniel, and to forms of government and world development.
Schools, community, general audience. Basic knowledge of Jewish and world history needed, this enhances First-Second temple Judaic studies
